Our Mission and Values

Promoting wellness through horses.

Our Mission

To create a culturally grounded space where horses, land, and meaningful relationships support people in reconnecting with themselves, their strengths, and their ways of knowing. Through horse-guided and land-based experiences, HMS honors the whole person- heart, mind, body, and spirit- while creating opportunities for connection, reflection, growth, and healing.

Our Vision

What sets our program apart from others.

HMS (Heart-Mind-Spirit) Learning Through Equine is an Indigenous-owned and operated horse-guided and land-based wellness initiative located in southeast Saskatchewan. HMS creates opportunities for children, youth, adults, families, organizations, and communities to reconnect with themselves through experiential learning, reflection, and relationship with the horses. Guided by Indigenous values, Two-Eyed Seeing, and culturally responsive practices, HMS recognizes that wellness involves the mind, heart, spirit, and body.

Our sessions bring together horses, land, culture, and human connection in a way that supports self-awareness, confidence, healing, and personal growth. The horses act as both a teacher and a mirror, offering immediate and honest feedback on a person’s internal and spiritual responses. The land provides the wisdom, grounding, and space for reflection.

HMS works alongside schools, recovery programs, organizations, and communities to provide culturally grounded wellness experiences that complement existing supports. Our vision is to create meaningful pathways to connect, healing, and wellness while contributing to Indigenous-led research and innovation approaches to personal and community well-being.
